Living Joyfully

Have you ever met someone that, after you're done talking with them, you walk away feeling, "Why can't I be like that?"

Yeah, me too.

I consider myself to be a strong Christian. I love Christ, and I know He loves me. I know He is my Savior and that apart from Him, I am completely and utterly hopeless. A mess. But even with this wonderful, life changing knowledge, I am still not perfect. I break dishes. I cry when I'm frustrated. I get annoyed far too easily. I hoping I'm not the only one who has this problem.

For a very long time I thought that joy and to be joyful meant that you had to be singing and dancing around all the time. Break out your tap dancing shoes and go to work. But lately, I've been discovering something much different and I found it to be so important that I decided to create a blog about it.

Joy, at least how I have found it, is not always about feeling happy. Because, let's face it, in life you aren't always going to be happy. Loved ones die. Parents fight. Tests get poor grades. Your favorite shampoo gets discontinued. Okay, that last one isn't so bad, but you get my point. But even in the midst of the unhappiness, even in the things that try rob us of the joy, we can still live joyfully.

Sometimes being joyful means smiling at that one person who annoys you the most. Or not complaining even when if you've had the worst day ever. Or getting up and facing the day when you'd rather hide in the covers. That's joy too, even if it's not as obvious as singing, "Hallelujah!".

It's a joy that isn't always right at your fingertips. Instead, you'll have to dig deep. And that's why this blog was created. To offer encouragement, stories, and inspiration for girls like you and me to be joyful in our everyday lives. In the ordinary, monotonous things and in the exciting parts as well. I plan to post two to three times a week, because really, I need daily reminders to keep living joyfully. Yet I know that part of God's plan for us is to live joyfully, even if it's in a quieter, less obvious sort of way.

So how 'bout it? Are you willing to dig deep with me?
